"DC: One Community for All” – Olmstead Draft Plan: Public Comment Period Extended to May 15, 2009

The Office of Disability Rights is pleased to present the “DRAFT” version of the Olmstead Plan, so named “DC: One Community for All”. DC: One Community for All complies with the 1999 Supreme Court decision and is a policy document that details the rights of each person with a disability for self-determination. In the spirit of independence, DC: One Community for All focuses on each individual’s right to choose where they want to live in the community. This plan is the result of the hard work, advocacy, and encouragement of DC residents, consumers, community leaders, caretakers, service providers, and advocate groups. It is our intention to foster inclusion in the District of Columbia and ODR encourages you to review this document. This document will be immediately available* in several formats:

  • Electronic document available in Word format (Linked to the Word Draft Attachment)
  • Electronic document available in PDF format (Linked to the PDF Draft Attachment*).
  • Printed copy
  • Available electronically on ODR’s website in both Word and .pdf
*If you require alternate formats and/or accommodations to access DC: One Community for All, please contact ODR (202) 724-5055 immediately.

This document is available for public review and comment until May 15, 2009.  Immediately following the comment period, ODR will review with the Olmstead Community Integration Council the feedback received by ODR.
