"For me, the biggest impact of the ADA is the difference it has made in our broader community. When I started this work, people would routinely say to me “well, I don’t know any people with disabilities” because people with disabilities were trapped in institutions and “special” schools and “special” workplaces. But now people with disabilities are everywhere, doing everything. And our society’s expectations about what people with disabilities can do have been blown out of the water. So I’m thankful to the ADA every day and for the people with disabilities I get to know and work with."
